Public Corporation Reform in East Asia
November 26, 27, 2007
Conference Room gOrionh, 5th Floor of
Toshi Center Hotel, 2-4-1 Hirakawa-cho Chiyoda-ku Tokyo
Since the economic crisis hit East Asia in the end of 1990s, the central and local governments has been exposed to the serious financial difficulties, and the public corporations reform or privatization has been carried out over the regions. Japan also has faced the same issues. The rapid changes, however, have invited the remarkable increase of burden to the citizen, and put the negative influence on the public interests. These processes have drawn the serious criticism against the reforms. In this symposium, we will discuss the present situations and issues of the public corporations reforms in East Asia.
